1. Lorena Ochoa is seeking her third career major and second Women's British Open title. She won the 2007 RICOH Women?s British Open and the 2008 Kraft Nabisco Championship.        2. This will be the final major as an active LPGA player for Annika Sorenstam who?s retiring at season?s end. Sorenstam, who won this event in 2003, has major finishes of T-2, T-3 and T-24 this season.        3. The Women?s British Open was first played in 1976, but joined the LPGA schedule in 1994. British Open drug tests delayed 1 year (AP)

Drug testing at the British Open at Royal Birkdale will be delayed a year because some international players have not been exposed to doping education programs. Royal & Ancient chief executive Peter Dawson said Tuesday the British Open was not ready to begin the testing program because of the tournament's international qualifying system.

Chia wins British Open qualifying event (AP)

Danny Chia of Malaysia shot his second straight 3-under 69 to win a British Open qualifying tournament Wednesday. Chia, who played at the 2005 Open at St. Andrews, finished with a 6-under 138 two-day total. Chia booked his second British Open appearance, qualifying along with Adam Blyth of Australia, Lam Chih Bing of Singapore and Angelo Que of the Philippines.

Cook was three shots clear of Bruce Vaughan at another Scottish links course with eight holes to go.
